Like every year, on 1 October 2017 the Jagiellonian University celebrated inauguration of a new academic year. The ceremony is traditionally opened with a holy mass at the Church of St. Anne, followed by a colourful parade of professors from Collegium Maius to Auditorium Maximum.
This year, the events were attended by Jarosław Gowin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Higher Education. The ceremony also included matriculation of 1st year students of the University, presentation of distinctions and awards and an opening lecture given by Justyna Drukała, PhD, from the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology, entitled: "Tissue Engineering, an Inimitable Hope of Contemporary Medicine".
