Certified Translation. Provisions of Polish Law

In Poland, certified (or sworn) translation service is performed by sworn translators who are officially approved to provide a translation into the specific language combination by the Minister of Justice. A sworn translator renders services for individuals, companies and state institutions such as courts, police or prosecutor’s office. The list of languages translated by Polish sworn translators contains 52 languages, the most popular of which are English, German, Russian and French. Among the most frequently translated documents in/to these languages are vehicle documents, notarial deeds, agreements or certificates of birth, marriage etc.

Polish legislation provides that a Polish sworn translator has the authority to translate from Polish into a foreign language, i.e. English, German, Russian, Italian, Romanian, Spanish, Arabic or French, or from a foreign language, for example, Slovakian, Czech, Hungarian, Belarussian, Norwegian or Greek, into Polish. Direct sworn translation from one foreign language into another, for instance, from English to Russian, is impossible. In such case, an intermediate translation is performed, i.e. first from English to Polish, and then from Polish to Russian. Such translations are often performed by the same sworn translator, accredited for both languages. Our translation agency performs all kinds of certified translations in several dozen languages.
