Swedish historian, world-famous expert of the history of the Teutonic Order (in particular of the Battle of Grunwald), researcher of Polish-Lithuanian-Teutonic relations, author of a color edition of one of the most important works of Jan Długosz, Banderia Prutenorum (containing illustrations and descriptions of 56 Teutonic banners won in battles during the reign of Władysław Jagiełło, mainly in the Battle of Grunwald), researcher of medieval history at the Polish-Scandinavian Institute in Copenhagen, member of many European institutions and scientific societies, promoter of Polish history - Professor Sven Ekdahl received the silver medal Plus ratio quam vis [reason means more than strength] - one of the highest decorations awarded by the Jagiellonian University.
The ceremony was held on February 10 at Collegium Maius, and the laudation in honor of Sven Ekdahl was delivered by professor Krzysztof Ożóg from the Faculty of History of the Jagiellonian University. He emphasized the merits of professor Ekhdal in developing a new concept of the Battle of Grunwald.
